Tagging

I think that tagging does have it's place in libraries. How many times have you looked for something and not been able to find it? Sometimes the verbiage that one person uses for something is different than what another person uses. Or a student who does not have a in-depth vocabulary may not know the high-tech word to get the result he or she needs. I have had this happen to me before many times.

I use tagging on Delicious and blog posts. I especially love using it on Delicious because I am able to sort my saved websites through the tags. If I want something on libraries, I click it. If I want a blog, I click that. If I want any of the other tags I have used, it is easy to find. I began doing this when I discovered that my school was going to re-image my computers at school. At first, I was very upset about losing the websites saved on my "favorites." Then I discovered I could move them to Delicious and make it much easier to access from any computer. Now if I need a website that's where I go. And if I want to add a site, it's very simple and I can use any of the tags that I already have in place to help sort it. Tagging is great!
